✅ 5 HRs Life Insurance Products and Retirement Planning – Nevada

✅ Approved by Nevada Division of Insurance | Provider #184098 | Course #29235 | Only $15.99 | Instant Emailed Certificate | 100% Online & Self-Paced

Earn 5 approved hours toward your Nevada producer renewal with a course approved by the Nevada Division of Insurance for only $15.99. Nevada requires 30 hours in the three-year period before renewal, and these 5 count toward that total.

The course is 100% online and self-paced. Log in and out as often as you need without losing progress. Nevada requires the final examination to be directly supervised under NAC 683A.211 — call or text 1-800-698-2770 and we will walk you through it. Your certificate is emailed to you the moment you finish. 1st Choice CE reports your approved completion to Nevada; the renewal application itself is submitted through Sircon.

  • Agents who write term, whole life, and universal life policies
  • Producers who recommend fixed, indexed, or variable annuities
  • Agents doing retirement income and legacy planning work
  • Producers who handle policy replacements and 1035 exchanges
  • Agents who need general CE credit toward the state renewal total

✅ Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?

This course provides 5 approved hours toward the 30 hours Nevada licensed resident insurance producers must complete. It does not satisfy the full requirement on its own, and it does not satisfy the separate 3-hour ethics requirement. You will need additional approved hours, including an approved ethics course, to complete your renewal.

✅ Nevada Continuing Education Requirements

Nevada resident insurance producers must complete 30 hours of approved continuing education within the three-year period before the date of renewal, and three of those hours must be in ethics. Nevada licensees may only take courses approved in the lines of authority they actually hold, so course category matters as much as hour count.

  • 30 approved hours in the three-year period before renewal
  • 3 of the 30 must be in ethics
  • Courses must be approved in a line of authority you hold
  • Self-study and correspondence courses require a final examination that is directly supervised, under NAC 683A.211
  • Renewal is submitted electronically through Sircon

Nevada exempts some producers from CE entirely. Under NAC 683A.330 a producer holding a CPCU, CLU, CIC, CFP, or ChFC designation, or with 20 or more years of continuous insurance experience where insurance is the primary source of income, may qualify for an exemption. An exemption form is required — the exemption is not automatic.

How this course helps: This 5-hour course contributes 5 of the 30 hours a Nevada resident producer must complete in the three-year period before renewal. It carries Life-line credit, not ethics credit, so the separate 3-hour ethics requirement must still be met with an approved ethics course. The remaining 25 hours must be completed within the same three-year period.

✅ When Do Licensees Renew?

Nevada producer licenses renew on a three-year cycle, and the 30 hours must be completed within the three-year period before the renewal date. The Division of Insurance emails a courtesy notice to the licensee's address of record roughly two months before expiration, but the deadline applies whether or not that notice arrives. Renewals are submitted electronically through Sircon, and a renewed license can be printed online free for 30 days after submission.

✅ How to Renew Your License

  1. Check your expiration date and CE posted to date — Look up your Nevada license record and confirm the expiration date and how many approved hours are already credited. Do not rely on the courtesy email alone.
  2. Confirm your lines of authority — Nevada credit only applies when the course is approved in a line you hold. Check the course category against your license before enrolling.
  3. Complete 30 approved hours, including 3 in ethics — All 30 must fall inside the three-year period before renewal.
  4. Complete the supervised final examination — NAC 683A.211 requires the final examination for a self-study or correspondence course to be directly supervised. Arrange this before your deadline, not after.
  5. Renew electronically through Sircon — Submit the renewal application and pay the renewal fee through Sircon, and review your contact and appointment information while you are there.
  6. Print and save your renewed license — Nevada allows a free online license printout for 30 days after submission. Save it and confirm the record shows an active status.

  • Explain cash value mechanics, dividends, paid-up additions, and nonforfeiture options in plain language
  • Compare fixed, indexed, and variable annuities on crediting, cost, liquidity, and income features
  • Apply annuity and life insurance tax rules correctly, including 1035 exchange principles
  • Set realistic expectations around policy illustrations, performance assumptions, and lapse risk
  • Handle beneficiary designations, ownership structures, and replacement decisions without creating avoidable harm

✅ Course Content Overview

Hour 1: Life Insurance Foundations and Product Fit in Retirement Planning

  • Review core life insurance concepts (risk pooling, insurable interest, contract structure, and policy ownership) to establish a clear foundation for product selection and client communication.
  • Examine term life policy design (level vs. decreasing term, conversion privileges, renewability, and common use cases) to match protection needs to time horizons and budgets.
  • Introduce permanent life insurance overview (whole life and basic universal life) to explain cash value mechanics, premiums, and how permanence changes planning outcomes.
  • Apply needs analysis and suitability basics to life insurance planning (income replacement, debt, education, business needs, and legacy goals) to support defensible recommendations.

Hour 2: Permanent Life Insurance Features, Policy Performance, and Client Expectations

  • Explain whole life policy components (guarantees, dividends as applicable, paid-up additions, and nonforfeiture options) to clarify how benefits may accumulate over time.
  • Compare universal life variations (traditional UL, indexed UL, and variable UL at a conceptual level) to highlight premium flexibility, crediting approaches, and risk tradeoffs.
  • Evaluate policy riders and benefit enhancements (waiver of premium, accelerated death benefits, chronic/critical illness riders, and guaranteed insurability) for appropriate use and limitations.
  • Discuss policy illustrations, performance assumptions, and lapse risk to help agents set realistic expectations and document conversations about cost, crediting, and long-term sustainability.

Hour 3: Annuity Products Beyond the Basics and Their Role in Retirement Income

  • Review annuity fundamentals (accumulation vs. distribution, contract parties, and the insurance function of longevity protection) to connect product structure to retirement goals.
  • Compare fixed, indexed, and variable annuities using plain-language explanations of crediting, caps/spreads, subaccounts, and the relationship between market exposure and guarantees.
  • Analyze distribution options and income features (immediate vs. deferred income, annuitization choices, living benefits, and payout factors) to align income reliability with client priorities.
  • Cover contract costs and constraints (surrender charges, market value adjustments where applicable, fees, and liquidity provisions) to reduce misunderstandings and suitability failures.

Hour 4: Taxation and Retirement Planning Integration for Life Insurance and Annuities

  • Review tax basics for life insurance (death benefit treatment, basis concepts, policy loans, partial surrenders, and lapses) to prevent inaccurate “tax-free” assumptions in planning conversations.
  • Explain annuity taxation concepts (tax deferral, last-in-first-out treatment of gains in many distributions, penalties, and the importance of timing) to support accurate retirement income projections.
  • Cover retirement planning application (income layering, longevity risk management, sequence-of-returns risk awareness, and balancing protection with growth objectives) to position products within a broader strategy.
  • Address exchanges and repositioning concepts (including 1035 exchange principles at a high level and practical documentation considerations) to support compliant product changes when appropriate.

Hour 5: Estate Planning Uses, Policy Replacement Standards, and Compliance Expectations

  • Review beneficiary designations and ownership structures (individual, trust-owned concepts, and common pitfalls) to reduce unintended outcomes and improve coordination with estate plans.
  • Discuss life insurance in estate and business planning (liquidity for taxes/expenses, legacy planning, key person concepts, and buy-sell funding fundamentals) to clarify real-world applications.
  • Analyze policy replacement and exchange risk (client suitability, comparison diligence, and common harm scenarios such as new surrender periods and loss of benefits) to support responsible recommendations.
  • Reinforce compliance and documentation standards (disclosures, advertising/communication expectations, recordkeeping, and complaint prevention habits) to support audit-ready and consumer-protective practices.
