β Who Should Take This Course?
- Missouri licensed resident insurance producers renewing a license with property and casualty authority
- Producers who need 4 approved hours toward the 16-hour Missouri requirement
- Agents who want current, practical knowledge of these coverages β not filler credit
- New producers building a working foundation in this coverage area
- Experienced agents refreshing before a renewal deadline
- Agency staff who support producers and want the same technical grounding
β Does This Course Satisfy the State Requirement?
This course provides 4 approved credit hours toward the 16-hour Missouri continuing education requirement. It does not by itself satisfy the full renewal requirement, and it does not satisfy the 3-hour ethics requirement. Remember that Missouri's 16 hours is a combined total even if you hold both Life/Health and Property/Casualty authority.
β Missouri Continuing Education Requirements
Missouri keeps its producer requirement lighter than most states: 16 hours of Missouri-approved continuing education during each two-year period, including at least 3 hours of insurance ethics. The number that surprises producers is that 16 is the total regardless of how many lines you hold β a producer with both Life/Health and Property/Casualty authority still completes 16 hours, not 32. There is no stacking. Courses may not be duplicated within a renewal period, and CE providers submit completion data electronically, which you can verify through SBS Connect.
- 16 credit hours of Missouri-approved continuing education per two-year period
- At least 3 of those hours must be insurance ethics
- 16 hours is the total for Life and/or Health, for Property and/or Casualty, and for producers holding both β there is no stacking
- Title producers have a reduced requirement of 8 hours
- Courses may not be duplicated during a renewal period
- Up to 4 hours every two years may come from qualifying insurance association membership under state law
- Providers submit completion data electronically; verify your transcript through SBS Connect at sbs.naic.org
How this course helps: This 4-hour course provides 4 approved credit hours toward the 16 hours Missouri requires for each two-year period. It applies as general credit and does not satisfy the separate 3-hour ethics requirement, so at least 12 additional hours β including your 3 ethics hours β must be completed separately.
β When Do Licensees Renew?
Missouri producers complete their continuing education during a two-year period tied to their license, and the license must be renewed before it expires. Confirm your exact expiration date and your current CE standing on your license record in SBS β the Department verifies compliance electronically before a renewal will process. Because providers submit completions electronically and processing through Compliance Express is delivered to the Department in real time, credit generally appears quickly, but you should still leave several days of margin rather than finishing on the deadline.
β How to Renew Your License
Step 1: Confirm your expiration date and lines of authority
Check your license record for the exact expiration date and the lines you hold. Remember that holding multiple lines does not increase the 16-hour total.
Step 2: Print your education transcript
Pull your transcript through SBS at sbs.naic.org and see exactly which hours have posted for this period.
Step 3: Complete 16 hours, including 3 ethics hours
Finish the requirement with Missouri-approved courses, making sure the ethics hours come from courses approved in the ethics category.
Step 4: Do not repeat a course you already used
Missouri does not allow a course to be duplicated within a renewal period. Check your transcript before enrolling.
Step 5: Verify the credit posted
Completions are submitted electronically and generally post quickly, but confirm the hours and categories on your transcript before you renew.
Step 6: Renew your license and pay the fee
Submit your renewal before the expiration date and pay the renewal fee.
Step 7: Keep your certificates on file
Save your completion certificates and confirm the record shows an active license with a new expiration date.
